چکیده
Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate demographic and radiographic characteristics Stafne bone cavity (SBC) in detail a large group cases. Material Methods: 6,758 conebeam computed tomography (CBCT) images taken İstanbul University Faculty Dentistry, Oral Maxillofacial Radiology Department between 2015-2018 were included the study. Cases evaluated recorded with regard age, gender, localization lesion, location (right-left), dimensions lesion (depth, height ,and width), cortical types newly modified types, edge border margin types. Results: Twenty seven cases (0.39%) SBC detected among images. average age patients was 48.56±10.577 (minimum 26, maximum 70). Among 27 SBC, 23 (85.2%) male 4 (14.8%) female. A statistically significant positive correlation found cases' depth, width (p=0.000; r>0.7). size r>0.4). There no mandibular canal relationship all other parameters (p>0.05). Conclusion: Diagnosis follow-up are often carried out by CBCT images; therefore, it crucial know features current classifications detail.

Stafne bone cavity and cone-beam computed tomography: a report of two cases
In 1942 Stafne reported 35 asymptomatic, radiolucent cavities that were unilaterally located in the posterior region of the mandible between the mandibular angle and the third molar, and below the mandibular canal. The term Stafne bone cavity (SBC) is now used for such asymptomatic lingual bone depressions of the lower jaw. Since then there have been many reports of SBCs but very fews tudies ha...
متن کاملBilocular Stafne Bone Defect above And Below the Inferior Alveolar Canal Assessed by Cone Beam Computed Tomography: A Case Report
Stafne bone defect is a bone depression containing salivary gland or fatty soft tissue on the lingual surface of the mandible. The most common location is within the submandibular gland fossa and often close to the inferior border of the mandible. This defect is asymptomatic and generally discovered only incidentally during radiographic examination of the area. Stafne bone defect appears as a w...

Introduction: Any foramen in the buccal surface of mandibular body that transfers mental nerve and vessels except mental foramen, is called Accessory Mental Foramen (AMF). The objective of this study was the determination of the AMF using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: this descriptive study was done on 180 CBCT projections which were selected by convenience samp...

Objectives: This study was performed to investigate the prevalence of idiopathic osteosclerosis on cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images of patients. Methods: In this descriptive, cross-sectional study, 240 CBCT scans of patients (125 women, 115 men) referred to a private oral and maxillofacial radiology clinic in Tehran in 2013 were selected and evaluated. Presence of idiopathic osteosc...
متن کاملA comparative evaluation of cone-beam computed tomography and multi-slice computed tomography in the diagnosis of sheep mandibular bone defect: an in vitro study
Introduction: Diagnosis of lesions and bone defects is very important and there is a lack of substantial studies on the most appropriate method for bone defect measurement. Hence, the aim of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of multi-slice computed tomography (MSCT) and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in the diagnosis of mandibular bone defects present in sheep. Material & Methods: T...
